WE’RE A CLASS ACT!

Local Classes For You voted So Sew Clever Craft School’s Learn to Sew favouriteadult class!

A local business woman is building confidence in the North East with her craft school So Sew Clever Craft School. Set up in 2013, to guide people in learning how to sew using a machine, it has been voted among Britain’s best in a prestigious national competition.

The Beginners Sewing Class previously held at Creative Cohesion in Sunderland scooped one of the top awards in the Classes For You competition, run by Britain’s biggest parenting site Netmums.

The UK-wide competition was launched as a chance for people running adult classes to be recognized for their hard work serving and improving the local community.

Over 1.7 million members were eligible to vote in the competition.

Class organiser Louise Garbutt was delighted to be crowned a local favourite. The entrepreneur from Hartlepool, has recently moved to Houghton Le Spring to be closer to the community she serves. She set up the class, in response to comments from the public whilst running her craft business LCGCreations,  She Said ‘I had a lot of people comment that they had a sewing machine collecting dust, and wish they could use it, but just didn’t have the confidence. My classes help people gain the confidence to use their machine, I have had people mail me the results of things they have made after the class, the results are astounding!’

Beaming Louise, 33 said: ‘This is a really big achievement for the company, it only started just under a year ago, as a way of helping other people who are just starting out with their sewing machine.  We are now using our home based studio to teach from after a break, which is a really big step for the company.  I am moving into running sessions within the community ’

So Sew Clever Craft School’s Learn To Sew class will now be honoured with a coveted gold listing on the Netmums site, used by over a million people each week, along with a special ‘Netmums Favourite’ certificate to display in their class. Louise also wins a badge for the So Sew Clever Craft School website and a place on the Netmums Award Winners pages.
